Job Description
The Role
GM is accelerating on a major transformation, both in how we operate and in how we will influence the future of transportation. The VIP SIT – Support & Automation Developer for the Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP) – Software Integration Team (SIT) position will put you at the forefront of this transformation. In-vehicle software is changing and evolving at an ever-increasing rate. The VIP SIT – In-House Logger Developer is responsible for designing and developing In-House Logger solutions as well as running the Logging Scrum. The In-house Logger is a modular COTS approach to data logging. Most Software issues are timing related, not environmental extremes. Deploying an in-house logger gives us the ability to rapidly change as new issues arise. Additionally, this job will test your project management skills by hosting the Logging Scrum. High level of communication skills, both written and spoken is a must. There is no ‘standard work’ for the unexpected, but it is expected that we learn from the past and catalogue our logging methodologies for future application. Together we can ensure our higher risk launches are on-time and with quality.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and creates technical solutions for logging – including the specification of requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development and testing for current, new and major programs
  • Coach a cross functional team in finding the root cause of software issues
  • Provide, communicate, and support common best practices for VIP Data Logging
  • Prepare the In-House Logger for Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP) 2.0
  • Leverage Consumer Embedded Electronics to rapidly launch logging solutions
  • Leverages technicians to help scale up homebuilt testing setups
  • Runs the Logging Scrum to ensure people are not blocked
  • Consults with In-House Logging Lead for Guidance

Additional Job Description
Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in software/controls
  • BS in Engineering with strong understanding of Software and Controls
  • Experience with Vehicle electrical architecture and serial data
  • Experience with software debugging tools & methodologies
  • Experience with troubleshooting distributed control systems
  • Proactive / results driven individual with high levels of initiative to work with multiple organizations to solve integration issues
  • High level analytical ability to resolve unusual and complex problems
  • Able to deal with high level of ambiguity
  • This role will require on-site support at Milford, with some opportunity to WFH
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Practical usage of Rapid Prototyping
  • History of assembling Electronic Prototypes
  • Experience writing C++ / Python

Desired Skills

  • 5+ years experience in software/controls
  • Experience with Vehicle Intelligence Platform
  • Experience with Data Logging tools (ie: Vehicle Spy, Vector Can Loggers, VDR)
  • Participated in Agile Development
  • Has written SW for consumer electronics (RaspPi, Arduino, STM32)
  • Engineering Project Management (ie: PDT, PIT Lead, SWIL, Scrum Lead)
  • Hobbyist in the electronics
  • Familiarity with Linux
