Payroll Manager

– every step of the way.The Payroll Manager ensures that employees are paid correctly and on time while operating in compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as other applicable local, state and federal regulations.

Provides leadership, direction, and support to payroll team members with a strong focus on continuous process improvement, project and vendor management.Primary Duties* Recommends and manages strategies regarding all pay systems and processes.* Partners with management to continuously improve pay processes and system configuration to ensure effective workflows.

Continuously works to automate and enhance existing Payroll systems and processes.* Partners with HRIS and Information Technology on employee and pay system needs, changes, and support.* Manages generation of payroll related reports and data while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state government regulations.* Directs and monitors preparation of payroll, including special payroll runs.* Directs the reporting and remittance of all voluntary and legal payroll deductions, i.e., taxes, garnishments, etc.

in compliance with laws and regulations.* Directs and assists in preparation of year-end forms, required government reports, statements and schedules.* Ensures accurate accounting for all payroll, payroll deductions and corporate payroll cash account in compliance with company policy and federal applicable rules and regulations.* Administers payments relating to wage continuation plans to ensure that all company agreements with employees are paid according to contracts.* Monitors internal controls and reconciliation processes, including SOX controls for payroll processes.* Assists internal and external auditors as well as other company finance, tax, and treasury partners with payroll related information.

Functions as representative for payroll during audits.* Works collaboratively with key internal and external partners.* Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.* Performs duties consistent with the company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field plus 7+ years previous multi-state and/or global payroll processing experience; or equivalent work experience.* Understanding of accounting principles and theories, wage and hour laws, and multi state taxation required.* PeopleSoft knowledge and experience strongly preferred.* Experience with managing outsourced and / or vendor services.* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with expert excel capabilities.* Strong team building and leadership skills, ability to motivate a team of employees toward established goals.* Able to effectively work with all levels of management and develop strong working relationships.

Excellent verbal and written communication, networking and influencing skills.* Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to produce accurate work.* Must exercise confidentiality, tact, diplomacy and independent judgment in the performance of duties.
