Physician/Cardiologist (Staff)

This is a Full-time position in Augusta, MI posted May 15, 2021.

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 31, 2021.

The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be January 28, 2021, with subsequent cut off dates on a bi-weekly basis.

Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as needed basis until positions are filled.

Incumbent will participate in the Cardiology Inpatient Consultative service and share on-call responsibility with other members of the Cardiology section Incumbent must be well versed in cardiology and should have expertise in general cardiology; interventional cardiology; echocardiography; holter monitoring and stress testing at a minimum.

Teaching experience within an academic setting is preferable Incumbent must have the ability to undertake a process improvement project to determine if it is cost effective for the organization Incumbent must attend monthly Specialty Care Service All Staff meeting as well as complete other administrative responsibilities as designated by the Director Incumbent will perform other duties as designated by the Chief, Cardiology and Chief, Specialty Care Service Relocation Expenses/Recruitment Incentives are not authorized.
Permanent Change Station(PCS) expenses are not authorized.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/31/2020.
Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds), light lifting (under 15 pounds), moderate carrying (15-44 pounds), light carrying (under 15 pounds), pushing 4 hours, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking 2 hours, standing 8 hours, near vision correctable at 13″ to 16″ to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, hearing (aid permitted), mental and emotional stability.
